I am defined by my experiences.

Many roles prepared me for a career as a creative advertising writer.

I once stood with a tiny net over a 75-gallon aquarium full of 10,000 goldfish, as a 7-year-old demanded, “No! I want that one.” Always manage client expectations.

On my first day at Dairy Queen they made me the head cook with no experience. That’s when I learned to deal with pressure. And lots of boiling hot grease.

The Austin airport job taught me never to walk in front of a running jet engine. Luckily I saw the beautifully illustrated poster. No one told me.

I’ve sacked groceries. I’ve mowed lawns. I’ve sold office supplies, toys, and insurance. I’ve swept lint off the floor of a 24-hour laundromat. Every one of these jobs humbled me, built character, and helped me grow.

When I was in college, I decided that I wanted to pursue a field that allowed me to be creative, but also pay the bills. Degrees in philosophy are noble. But the starting salary for philosophers was not great in the 1990s. Advertising fit the bill.

In four years and a summer, I earned a B.S. in Advertising at the University of Texas at Austin. I completed the Creative Program, and was honored to participate in the One Show Student Exhibition in New York.

I have spent the following years writing copy for a wide variety of clients at several ad agencies, and two major corporations. I have had the opportunity to write copy for print, outdoor, TV, radio, online, magazine, collateral, and other media.

In my spare time, I’m passionate about pursuing my hobbies - which include photography, aviation, reading, learning, and helping others.
